I’ve teamed up with some of my very talented friends this year to create a boho Friendsgiving party. Join Lori from Pop of Gold, Lauren from Oh How Charming, Amanda from Rusty Chic Decor, Jenn from Pixels & Pop, and Cait from Cafe Everyday Sunday as we show you how to create the perfect Friendsgiving event this year. We’ve all created a piece of the party and I made the cocktail this year (of course, I did).
Every party should have a signature cocktail and fall sangria is a great one. My number one tip for serving cocktails at a gathering is to stick to easy cocktails that can be served in a pitcher or punch bowl. A large Friendsgiving gathering (or even a smaller one) is not the time for time consuming bespoke cocktails. Sangria obviously fits the bill here.
I used Ina Garten’s Autumn Sangria recipe from her newer book, Cook Like A Pro, modifying it slightly. I combined Cabernet Sauvignon, cold pressed spiced apple cider (you can use regular apple cider as well), Laird’s apple brandy, cinnamon infused simple syrup, and lots of fruit to make this signature drink to kick off the party. As you’ll see in Ina’s recipe, she uses both apple and pear brandy; however, I just used the apple brandy because I didn’t feel like purchasing a bottle of something I won’t use very frequently. The sangria was still delicious. Even better, it can be made ahead of time.
Last but not least, if you don’t follow along on Instagram, you should! On November 5th, my co-hosts and I are hosting a giveaway to go along with the blog hop. Among other great items, we’ll be giving away a copy of Ina’s Cook Like A Pro.
While you’re at it, head over to my co-hosts blog posts for more Friendsgiving inspiration. We will be showing you how we created a festive welcome table using blush, cranberry, and ivory tones and fabulous fall decorations created by Jenn of Pixels & Pop and Amanda of Rusty Chic Decor, as well as a matching balloon garland created by Lauren of Oh How Charming. Delicious appetizers from Lauren, desserts from Lori at Pop of Gold, and a gift of pumpkin spiced pecans from Cait Cafe Everyday Sunday.
